Angola envoy urges community to engage in mutual beneficial exchanges

 By Correspondent Felix Andrew

THE ambassador of the Republic of Angola in Tanzania, Sandro De Oliveira has urged the community to take advantage of the available opportunities in two countries to engage in mutually beneficial exchanges.

He was speaking in Dar es Salaam over the weekend on the occasion of the celebration of Angola’s 48 independence anniversary with the Angolan community in Tanzania.

Ambassador Oliveira said they have been working tirelessly to strengthen the fraternal ties that unite two peoples and States.

“We should take advantage of the available opportunities on both sides to engage in mutually beneficial exchanges, among others, in the domains of trade, business, culture, science and technology and tourism “he said.

He said that later this year they will hold the First Session of the Joint Permanent Commission between Angola and Tanzania and subsequently the First Business and Investment Forum.

“In that regard, we would like to once again urge the business sector from Tanzania not to hesitate in investing in Angola in various sectors because the business environment has improved significantly since 2017, there are attractive incentives for key areas and an enormous potential for profitable businesses,” he said.

He also said this year, contrary to the usual diplomatic reception, they  decided to join the Angolan Community in Tanzania in a more social event, to enable them  to exchange ideas more openly, to asses any preoccupation they may have and to savour the best that African culture in general, and Tanzanian culture in particular, has to offer, as well as to quench the thirst for some national cuisine.

At the outset, we should use this occasion to pay homage to our fearless fighters who sacrificed themselves fully for the cause of the Angolan People and achieved the freedom that we enjoy today, he said.

According to him, their patriotism, their solidarity with oppressed Peoples, their bravery and courage should serve as a permanent compass in the struggle for economic liberation and sustainable development of their r magnificent Nation.

On the other hand, he said they pay singular homage to the late Dr. António Agostinho Neto, Founder of the Angolan Nation and National Hero, who with vision and courage led the liberation struggle, notwithstanding the very difficult circumstances that prevailed at that time.

The envoy said Tanzania played a decisive role in Angola’s independence, having given immeasurable political, technical, moral and material support.

Similarly, Tanzania hosted Angolan fighters in many areas of its territory, namely in Dar es Salaam, Mbeya, Dodoma, among others, he said.

It is worth reiterating that the delegation from the MPLA part headed by the late President Neto departed from Dar es Salaam to eventually proclaim the independence of Angola.

He noted that since the advent of peace in 2002, Angola has been marking many advances in all sectors of the economy.

“Simultaneously, we intend to reduce the economy’s dependence on oil as a way of eliminating the vulnerabilities from shocks in global markets”,he said.

To the Angolan students in Tanzanian, many of whom have concluded their studies and are waiting for their graduation, he said :we would like to encourage them to seek knowledge, experiences and best practices with the aim of returning to the Country and serve the motherland in various capacities. The future of Angola will be supported by you.

On 11th November 1975, at the Independence Square in Luanda, the late President Neto, solemnly proclaimed, before Africa and the world, the Independence of Angola, ending a difficult armed liberation struggle from the Portuguese colonial yoke.
